Hello,
I'm currently using VirtualBox 4.2.8 on Windows 8.1. When I select 'Check for updates', it says 'You are already running the most recent version of VirtualBox', even though I know the latest stable version is 4.3.28. I want to update VirtualBox without losing the VMs I currently have. How can I get VirtualBox to recognize the new update and do the automatic download/install? If that's not possible, then if I manually download VirtualBox 4.3.28 and install on top of 4.2.8, will my existing VMs be carried over, or will I lose them? Thanks in advance for your advice.![Virtualbox Update Virtualbox Update](https://www.nakivo.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/How-to-update-VirtualBox-on-Mac-–-installation-customization.png)

VirtualBox 6.0 has been released with boat load of changes for Windows, Linux and OS X systems. Some of these changes include support for exporting a virtual machine to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, a new file manager enabling user to control the guest file system and copy files between host and guest and more…
The downside with this approach is that you must manually update VirtualBox once a new version is released. This can be circumvented by adding the Oracle repo. Finally, you can install VirtualBox directly from the source code. This method allows you to build VirtualBox from the source but can be a lengthier and more complex process.
